So my religous identity is complicated, but I’d say i’m about 2-4% Jewish, which leads to things like hour long discussions on whether I should celebrate Passover at all or not and how. Well I’ve decided to observe by having matzo ball soup this year, which honestly isn’t much less serious than I take my major religious holidays.

What are matzo balls? Imagine gritz and flour ball dumpling hybrid but its gluten-free and they’re large and you spoon off bits of them at a time then chase them down with broth like root beer after having ice cream that intense urge to drink the liquid after a bite. These come with carrots, I’ve heard rumours some people put dill in this, I dunno if that’s a regional thing or what.
It may not look like much, but it’s a very filling meal, it feels good on the stomach with stomach issues, and it’s quite delicious. There’s still 5 days left of passover if you want to try matzo ball soup. You didn’t miss anything if you didn’t get them on the first day, it’s a 7 day holiday. You will; however, miss out if you never try them.
