Weird texting buddies

When I just turned 18 I had this texting buddy I really wanted to stop texting me but i didn’t know how ghosting worked and phones didn’t have block features then. Well this guy was a few years younger than me and nobody ever explained to me that when you turn 18 you’re supposed to stop talking to these people. It gets to the point where police start investigating why i’m talking to him, like i’m talking to him because he won’t stop texting me and i don’t want to be rude.

I never got in trouble or anything like that, but when police got involved I said “This is a two way street, he has to stop texting ME.” It was honestly traumatizing to me, I wasn’t doing anything I was taught was wrong.
