The Lemon Packet Effect

I wanna talk a bit about something I call “The Lemon Packet Effect.” Imagine this: you’re locked up and abused every waking and sleeping moment, you ding even get to sleep without abuse. The food is bland, but you get a lemon packet with it. Suddenly the food isn’t so bad, and maybe for the first and only time that week you smile.

When removed from this situation, you may find that lemon packets bring a nostalgia for relief from suffering, and may seek them out to relieve stress. I call this “The Lemon Packet Effect” – nostalgia can occur from relief you get in extreme situations.
