How have your political views changed over time?

My political views were pretty standard what my friends viewed, I’d parrot or argue online about. But as i’ve matured, I’ve learned that certain topics are more in my lane to advocate about. What’s there for me to talk about Palestine that’s in my lane and not just repeating what everyone else is saying? I have actual views of disability justice that are radical and a part of the conversation that needs to be had.

When I was a teenager I asked my dad whether republicans or democrats care more about people’s wellbeing, he said republican, so I thought I was a republican at first, until i started seeing how my dad lied to me. I meant stuff like human beings having healthcare and human rights, not corporations getting richer, but i get why my dad would lie to me.

I also have to take my mental heath into consideration with politics. I’m not like totally grillpilled, but things like Trump and stuff that you have no say in changing I don’t waste my mental energy arguing. I will say it’s in my lane to say when you call trump an ableist slur, it’s your disabled friends that you’re throwing under the bus for clout, Trump isn’t harmed in any way by your ableism.
