Seasonal Affective Disorder i’ve seen a lot of ignorant thing said by medical professionals about this disorder. It’s not taken seriously and i’ve even had a nurse say “what do you want me to do? open a window?” like how ignorant do you have to be about SAD to say that?

I’ll show you my view

A gloomy window with blinds propped open by a large cup and plant pot germinating seeds.

Of course I can just close my blinds and not see this, but if you think it’s that simple you’re (pardon the slur) fucking stupid. And I mean that with all the historical connotations of the word. I’m affected by the barometric pressure, if you’re so stupid you think closing blinds affects barometric pressure go get your GED.

But it’s not people without an education saying these things, it’s doctors and nurses saying these ignorant things. Which is just proof that an education doesn’t mean someone is smarter than you and it doesn’t mean you should trust them. I had a doctor once say that he had no thoughts, like you’re a psyche doctor and you don’t even know what it’s like to have thoughts???

But enough ranting about ignorant doctors and nurses. What can you do about rain and SAD? I’m sure at least one reader wants an idea what I do to handle it. With my DID i have an ego state that’s responsible for making the rain feel good. This is achieved by playing on the trigger of the sound of the rain, which is relaxing, and amplifying it.

So your body hates the barometric pressure of rain, you can still derive pleasure from the sound of it. Of course remember to take all your medicine, take an extra aspirin if you have to. Get your body comfortable and snuggle a plush and you’ll be fine.
