What are your feelings about eating meat?
I’m disabled with a lot of digestive issues, and often am malnourished, I can’t replace every meat meal regardless of morals and feelings regarding eating meat. But the great thing about diets are it’s in your ability to act on. I can do low meat, and when a vegetarian option for the same nutritional value comes up, I can swap that, but my health comes before my love of animals.
My brother was telling a story of slaughtering his duck the other day, and I guess duck feathers are thicker than chicken, so the axe didn’t go through and the duck just started at him before he took a second swing. He cried, and I honestly don’t know how he slaughters any animals with his soft heart, but i’d probably still eat the duck, because I’d feel far worse that the duck went to waste than protest not eating it. I’d either be crying over eating the duck that suffered on its death or i’d be crying going hungry that the duck was going to waste after giving its life.
That’s a moral value I don’t see in a lot of meat-eating animals-lovers: what about guilt from the animal going to waste? I don’t think this is something you should get food poisoning over, like please throw out that thanksgiving turkey, it’s old and hasn’t tasted the same since yesterday.
In conclusion; my low meat diet isn’t the result of morals, as much as i love animals, nor is it the apathy towards animals, but with my disability and malnutrition I can only be so picky on what food I deny.
